Topic Map & Visual Abstract 2

This was my second attempt at my Topic Map. I incorporated color to better show the relationship between words and then organized the few chosen terms into a map-like composition to help the ideas become more clear.

This is my second try at the Visual Abstract. The top begins with images of the structure of cells then it goes into images of living organisms including stromatolites; one of the first complex living organisms dating back 3.5 billion years. Next are photos of organic forms some of which are made from recycled materials and lastly images of skins that were derived from the structure of living things.

Spatial Investigations: Collage and Montage Part 2

Arch 936 Thesis Prep II
Part 2 of the project was to choose two out of our six collages and work in section. The section should help improve the definition of the chosen term.

"Color" Collage Section

This montage is difficult to read at this size but I played with the opacity of areas and overlayed a cell structure-like shape to represent the make-up of a flower. There are 4 parts to the flower: sepals, petals, stamens, and carpels. The four rings of the shape embody those 4 parts and the lines between them represent the complex web that holds those parts together.

"Linearity" Collage Section

For this collage I used a literal section line as a reference for my section cut.  I then extruded the lines to random heights to create a graph like image. In the next stage I would like to find a way to connect the lines to enhance the section.

Spatial Investigations: Collage and Montage Part 1

For Project 1, we were given a list of architectural terms to be defined by the Oxford English Dictionary, as well as by our own judgement. Choosing three terms off of the list we were to construct a collage or montage portraying that term and at the same time creating a visually stimulating image.

Passage of Time:
This collage depicts the changing of the seasons in New England

Passage of Time:
This collage portrays the process of an aging red barn over time

Linearity:
For this collage I fished through magazines for any images that meant 'linearity' to me

Linearity:
A series of Pascal Lines overlayed and rotated to create this image

Color:
This was a photograph that I selectively removed sections to reveal the pixelate image underneath

Color: This collage was meant to describe the way people see color in their own eyes
